This is what a total Solar eclipse looks in Antarctica, near the bottom of the world. It occurs when the dark silhouette of the Moon completely obscures the intensely bright light of the Sun. The sudden darkness lets the magnificent corona of the Sun become visible. Photograph by Fred Bruenjes.
