Perhaps you could look into Bouvet Island (there's a mildly creepy story that goes along with that), Svalbard, the Kerguelen Islands, some isolated settlements in Nunavut (Iqaluit, Eureka, Alert), the Line Islands, Easter Island, very sparsely populated counties in the western US, Clipperton Island, locations in Dzungaria and Xinjiang, St. Kilda, the Isles of Scilly, the smaller islands and reefs of Hawai'i, the Blasket Islands, Tavolara, or the Channel Islands. And I'm sure there's plenty more.
