Latin for Dummies by Clifford Hull, Steven Perkins, and Tracy Barr
If any of you have used a Dummies book before, it’s probably pretty easy for you to imagine what this one looks like on the inside. Because learning a language is such an interactive effort, I wasn’t sure how helpful…
Concerning beginner books, I have also heard that the that the Teach Yourself Latin edition and especially the Lingua Latina series are good. Teach Yourself is probably very similar to Latin for Dummies, but Lingua Latina follows a more novel approach by having the student delve into latin text right at the beginning, and slowly build up their vocabulary (and grammar, I think) through inference. I think there are separate grammar books that go along with it when you reach a more advance level.
