Versailles, The Dream of a King . A movie by Thierry Binisti. 2007
This is what a total Solar eclipse looks in Antarctica, near the bottom of the world. It occurs when the dark silhouette of the Moon completely obscures the intensely bright light of the Sun. The sudden darkness lets the magnificent corona of the Sun become visible. Photograph by Fred Bruenjes.

I just have to say that some people are simply weird. Not in the sense of quirky-weird, but just strange.
People, man. Freaking people. Sometimes I think I am the only sane person around.

For my posts next month, I will try to focus more on Italian art and architecture, 18th and 19th century Russian art, and more surrealist pieces. I think I exhausted all the French Baroque art available :D
What do you guys think?

Sure, that happens depending on the area and whatnot. But this is a large, public, 100+ year old, well-established school that caters to a huuuuge group of students in the NYC metro area. For a school like this not to have the necessary funding for even a small strings group is kind of weird, and there is definitely enough evidence to suggest that the school is really mediocre in other areas as well. In this case, I think it is the school itself.

Does anybody know an early music teacher, school, or any other institution which gives lessons in viol or lute playing in the NYC area? I’m kind of having trouble looking for one :(

And has an option to turn off! I’ve been to blogs which you can’t even turn off the music, and it’s usually one song on repeat! :D

Why is all this content from blogs that I don’t follow in the my newsfeed? It seems to be happening only with the mobile app, but still, what the heck?
Stop updating Tumblr, Yahoo. There is sooooo much more to it than angsty teenagers, and it would be horrible if all of that would go away.
EDIT: Tumblr went cray last night.

Latin for Dummies by Clifford Hull, Steven Perkins, and Tracy Barr
If any of you have used a Dummies book before, it’s probably pretty easy for you to imagine what this one looks like on the inside. Because learning a language is such an interactive effort, I wasn’t sure how helpful…
Concerning beginner books, I have also heard that the that the Teach Yourself Latin edition and especially the Lingua Latina series are good. Teach Yourself is probably very similar to Latin for Dummies, but Lingua Latina follows a more novel approach by having the student delve into latin text right at the beginning, and slowly build up their vocabulary (and grammar, I think) through inference. I think there are separate grammar books that go along with it when you reach a more advance level.
